Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) is forecasting strong winds, with gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour, moderate to heavy rain (30 to 50 millimetres in 24 hours), locally very heavy (more than 50 millimetres in 24 hours), accompanied by severe thunderstorms tonight in some districts of Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane provinces.
At sea, strong winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour are expected, with showers or moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, generating waves up to 4.0 metres high, south of the parallel 23 degrees south.
Risk areas:
Maputo province:
Districts of Matutuíne, Namaacha, Boane, Moamba, Magude, Manhiça, Marracuene and cities of Maputo and Matola.
Gaza province:
Mainly in the districts of Chókwe, Bilene, Chongoene, Chibuto, Guijá, Mandlakazi, Mabalane, Massingir, Mapai, Chicualacuala, Chigubo, Limpopo and the city of Xai-Xai.
Inhambane province:
Mainly in the districts of Zavala, Inharrime, Panda, Homoine, Jangamo and cities of Maxixe and Inhambane.
INAM recommends taking precautionary safety measures relevant to strong winds, heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
