President Visits Switzerland for WMO Event

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, begins a working visit to the Swiss Confederation on Saturday (18), in response to an invitation from the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Andrea Celeste Saulo.

President Chapo will, on Monday, 20 October, participate as a keynote speaker in the High-Level Event on the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) Initiative and the Role of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs), to be held in Geneva.

“At this event, President Chapo will share Mozambique’s experience in responding to emergency situations, highlighting the country’s proactive and strategic commitment to climate adaptation and resilience,” reads a statement sent to AIM.

The President’s agenda also includes bilateral meetings with the authorities of the Swiss Confederation and senior officials of multilateral organisations based in Geneva, as well as with ambassadors and permanent representatives of the CPLP accredited to the United Nations and other international organisations, business leaders, and the Mozambican community living in that European country.

The Head of State will be accompanied by the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Américo Muchanga; the Minister of Health, Hussene Isse; the Secretaries of State for Foreign Affairs and for Mozambican Communities Abroad, Maria de Fátima Manso; the Secretary of State for the Environment, Gustavo Sobrinho Djedje; the President of the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction, Luísa Meque; Mozambique’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Geraldo Saranga; as well as officials from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
