Africa-Press – Mozambique. Gaza Province has begun producing biofuel from cashew nut shells—commonly referred to as LCC (Liquid Cashew Shell)—a fuel suitable for compression-ignition engines.
To date, over 1,400 tonnes of the product have been exported to the European market. These figures were presented this Thursday to Gaza Governor Margarida Mapanzene Chongo by Permakeshows, the foreign-owned company leading the initiative.
Based in the Bilene District, Permakeshows has been operating in the cashew processing industry since 2018. The firm aims to become a key player in Mozambique’s national energy matrix, while creating youth employment opportunities and generating income and tax revenue for the State.
The intermediate product—bio-oil paste—is exported to Italy for refining at facilities operated by ENI, a global leader in the oil and gas sector.
According to Gonçalo Correia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Permakeshows, the company has already shipped its first 70 containers, each carrying 20 tonnes of the biofuel product.
During her visit to the facility, Governor Margarida Mapanzene Chongo commended the company’s efforts to diversify production and add value through the reuse of raw materials, highlighting its contribution to sustainable industrial development in the province.
