Africa-Press – Mozambique. The 2026 World Cup is already smashing records well ahead of kickoff. Speaking at the World Sports Summit in Dubai, FIFA president Gianni Infantino revealed that more than 150 million ticket requests were received worldwide in just 15 days.

He explained that the presale averaged nearly 10 million requests per day, with the United States, Germany, and Great Britain leading demand, despite widespread debate over ticket prices reported to range between $6,000 and $60.

Infantino highlighted the scale of this enthusiasm by comparing it to the tournament’s history, noting that only 44 million tickets have been sold across all previous World Cups combined. With the expansion to 48 teams and 104 matches, FIFA now projects total ticket sales could reach between 50 and 60 million, setting the stage for an unprecedented global spectacle when the competition kicks off.
