Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican health authorities have recorded almost 5,000 cases of cholera throughout the country, during the current outbreak.
According to the most recent bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, 86 more cases of the disease were reported, raising the total number to 4,540 cases since September 3rd, 2025.
The northern province of Nampula concentrates the highest number of cases, with 1,930 infections and 23 deaths. The central province of Tete comes second, with 1,755 cases and 28 deaths, while the northern province of Cabo Delgado has 728 cases and eight deaths; and central province of Zambézia has recorded 72 cases and one death.
“The overall case fatality rate is 1.4 percent. Since the beginning of the outbreak, 62 people have died from cholera. During the same period, 2,484 patients were hospitalized, while 2,056 patients received outpatient treatment”, reads the document.
According to the bulletin, the outbreak is currently active in the districts of Marara, Tsangano, Moatize, Changara, Cahora Bassa, in Tete province. It is also active in the districts of Eráti and Memba, in Nampula, as well as in Montepuez, Metuge, Pemba, and Mecúfi, in Cabo Delgado province. The disease is also active in Guro, in Manica province, as well as in Morrumbala district, in Zambézia.
