Africa-Press – Mozambique. The police in Maputo city detained an individual in possession of 120 bundles of cannabis sativa, commonly known as “suruma”, originating from South Africa.
The suruma, totalling around 100 kilograms, was transported from South Africa to Mozambique in a semi-public passenger vehicle . Upon arriving at the Junta Bus Terminal, the suspect attempted to dispatch the consignment to Tete Province.
However, his suspicious behaviour when leaving the terminal before completing the shipping process alerted the transport company staff. When they opened the package, they discovered the drugs and notified the authorities. The apprehension of the suspect was made possible thanks to the tracking of the vehicle used in the cross-border transport.
