14 Tax Authority officials sworn into office

The President of the Mozambique Tax Authority (AT), Aníbal Mbalango, swore in 14 newly appointed officials on the morning of Friday, 6 March, tasking them to ensure respect for the rights and guarantees of taxpayers in the exercise of their functions. The officials assume leadership of various organisational units within the institution.

According to Aníbal Mbalango, the appointments form part of the regular institutional organisation process, aimed at consolidating a more efficient, modern, and results-oriented tax administration. He explained that the renewal is intended to inject new energy into internal processes and procedures, strictly observing the principles of legality, fiscal justice, and equity, while sustainably strengthening revenue collection as a key pillar of the country’s economic stability.

To ensure these institutional expectations are realised, Mbalango urged the newly sworn-in officials, and staff more broadly, to reinforce control mechanisms in auditing and inspection, adopt effective instruments to monitor professional conduct, promptly address any deviations, and consolidate a culture firmly anchored in ethics, integrity, and accountability.

He also highlighted the need for greater familiarity with legal and regulatory instruments among staff to ensure effective implementation of reforms, with particular focus on the legislative reforms introduced in 2025.

Among the officials recently sworn in, particular attention was drawn to the new Delegates in the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, and Sofala.
