Mozambique’s Minister of Finance, Carla Loveira, met with Brazil’s Ministry of Finance to sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation. The agreement includes technical cooperation measures such as expert missions and seminars, focusing on improving institutional capacities between the two nations.
Africa-Press – Mozambique. Brazil’s Ministry of Finance on Monday (16 March) received Mozambique’s Minister of Finance, Carla Loveira, for a bilateral meeting in Brasília. The meeting was led by the Secretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Mathias Alencastro, representing Finance Minister Fernando Haddad.
During the meeting, the authorities reviewed the state of bilateral relations and cooperation initiatives between the two countries. On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Brazil and Mozambique aimed at strengthening institutional capacities.
The agreement provides for technical cooperation measures, including expert missions, the organisation of seminars, and the exchange of experiences and regulatory best practices between the two public administrations.
Mozambique is a founding member of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. During the meeting, progress in the preparation of the national plan for implementing projects linked to the initiative in the country was also discussed.
In addition to the agenda at the Ministry of Finance, the Mozambican delegation will also hold meetings with other Brazilian government institutions, with a view to expanding and deepening economic and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Mozambique and Brazil have a history of diplomatic relations that dates back several decades, characterized by mutual interest in economic and social development. Both countries have engaged in various cooperative initiatives, particularly in finance and technical assistance, to address challenges such as poverty and hunger. The recent signing of the MoU reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen these ties and promote sustainable development through shared expertise and resources. This partnership is particularly significant as Mozambique continues to work on its national development plans, including initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and enhancing economic growth.
