Africa-Press – Mozambique. The chairman of the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCM), Álvaro Massingue, has challenged small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Mozambique to improve their market research techniques so as to increase the export of quality products and services.

Massingue was addressing on Tuesday a webinar titled: “How to Implement an Export Market Analysis”, which was the fourth session of the webinars series”Building Capacities for Improving General Export Readiness and Accessing the European Union Market”.

According to Massingue, the global market poses many challenges for Mozambican SMEs. “Researching and placing our companies’ products in the right markets is the right formula to ensure the survival and prosperity of our businesses and, consequently, the competitiveness of our economy,” he said.

Massingue said that product quality certification was one of the fundamental elements for improving market research techniques.

However, with a view to making the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce a link for the establishment of bridges between national producers and the European market, Massingue understands that it is necessary to guarantee greater fluidity in internal and external dialogue.

“We are committed to promoting several memorandums of understanding with our European counterparts, and others, to serve as vehicles for connecting and promoting trade agreements that benefit our producers. We want the Chamber of Commerce of Mozambique to also be a source of information on the national potential for European importers. We renew our commitment to serving the national market, in favour of the internationalisation of our brands, products and services,” he stressed.

The one-day event was co- organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO, the PROMOVE Comércio project, sponsored by the European Union and the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce. The webinar was moderated by UNIDO’s Roberto Medina and addressed by CCM’s Àlvaro Massingue, and Wolfgang Wiegel , an Internationally Recognised Specialist in Small and Medium Enterprises.
