The Interior Minister, Paulo Chachine, believes that the current challenges faced by the Mozambican Police (PRM) demand modernized training and a more appropriate performance from its officers.<\/p>\n
The minister, who was speaking at the Police Training School in Matalana, southern Maputo province, at the ceremony marking the 51st anniversary of PRM, said the current challenges related to combating crime, terrorism, corruption, and road accidents in the country require appropriate measures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe training of the corporation\u2019s members must respond to the current security situation. We need a thorough reflection on the history of the school and its role in police training since its creation. It is important to know where we came from, where we are, so that we can envision where we want to go\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
Chachine proposed the elaboration of a project to write the history of the Police Training, valuing the contribution of the founders and former trainers in the development of PRM.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur expectation is that, within the framework of the jubilee celebrations, the School will develop a project for writing the history of the institution. It is necessary to evaluate the current police training curriculum in order to assess its suitability to the challenges of modern security\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
Among the aspects pointed out for analysis are the evolution of police education, the quality of graduates\u2019 performance, the contribution of agents to maintaining public order, and the relationship between the school and the communities.<\/p>\n
