Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Portuguese Association (AP) in Mozambique is promoting a petition for the resumption of flights between the two countries and an end to the 14-day quarantine on arrival in Portugal, vice president Alexandre Costa told Lusa on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe petition comes to organise what we have been noticing throughout the week, which is a great revolt\u201d over the suspension of commercial flights during the Christmas season, Costa said.<\/p>\n

With many people in despair, the petition serves to lead through the appropriate channels this feeling, with an appeal for Portugal to take into consideration the easing of restrictions that other countries are already carrying out, after the first reaction to the Omicron strain, which has not yet been detected in Mozambique, despite being identified in neighbouring South Africa.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom and France have already announced the resumption of flights to southern Africa, and within Europe, restrictions have also been appropriate.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the example of other countries, we want the government to review this situation and benefit everyone and everything because the season also calls for it: common sense and peace among all,\u201d Costa said.<\/p>\n

The petition entitled \u201cReposition of Maputo-Lisbon-Maputo scheduled flights\u201d is available on the Internet platform Public Petition and by early afternoon in the Mozambican capital had been signed by over 1,450 people.<\/p>\n
