Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario on Monday called on the public television broadcaster, TVM, to respond to the current market dynamics and the public demand for a bolder station.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a ceremony at which Elio Jonasse was sworn in as the chair of the board of TVM, the Prime Minister added that the broadcaster also needs to adapt to the demands of an increasingly segmented audience in the digital era.<\/p>\n

For the Prime Minister, \u201cwith the completion of the modernisation of the production cycle at TVM, within the context of digital migration, this public television station must continue with the revitalisation of its provincial channels to reduce asymmetries in access to information\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister urged TVM to continue to inform and educate citizens, \u201calways guided by the observance of the values and principles that govern the media\u201d. He stressed the need for TVM to \u201ccontinue to invest in activities that contribute to maintaining it at the vanguard of the media sector\u201d.<\/p>\n

Unlike most of his predecessors in the post, Jonasse is a television journalist, with many years of experience.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also swore into office the new chair of the Labour Mediation and Arbitration Commission (COMAL), Olga Manjate, and deputy director of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), Custodia Paunde.<\/p>\n

He urged Manjate to make sure that COMAL respects the principles of transparency and procedural swiftness in the resolution of conflicts. Turning to Paunde, he urged her to strengthen APIEX so that it is \u201ca centre par excellence for the provision of information about investment, international business and trade; and to continue to develop activities that guarantee that our country is a privileged destination for national and foreign investment\u201d. He also called on APIEX to consolidate the legal framework on investment.<\/p>\n
