Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambican police has arrested two men who broke into the house of a judge in Manhi\u00e7a district, Maputo province, and held her hostage for two days, the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) has announced.<\/p>\n

Quoted on Monday by the newspaper Not\u00edcias, SERNIC spokesperson Elino Pangane said that the two men were part of a gang of three who forced the judge to ask family members to transfer 140,000 meticais (about \u20ac2,000) to their bank account in exchange for her freedom.<\/p>\n

The day after the robbers entered the residence, the judge was forcibly taken by the leader of the group to an ATM where she withdrew the required money, Pangane said.<\/p>\n

The SERNIC spokesman added that the gang also stole a computer and cell phones belonging to the judge.<\/p>\n

The police operation resulted in the arrest of two of the three robbers and the recovery of some of the belongings taken from the judge\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

Pangane said that the leader of the group had fled to Gaza province, and a search was currently underway to locate him.<\/p>\n
