Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The gold exploration company MMC Resources, which operates in Cassossole, Macanga district, in Tete province, is to open a new open-pit ore mine.<\/p>\n

Company geologist Ov\u00eddeo Carlos Jamisse said that the project would source ore from a small-scale open-pit mine using clean technologies. \u201cThe project is economically viable and, according to tests carried out, it is expected that the final product will be of good quality,\u201d<\/p>\n

he said.<\/p>\n

Also according to his analysis, there is market demand at national, regional and international levels. However, Jamisse continues, in environmental terms, the biggest problem lies in the dust generated in the exploitation process. \u201cThe mine will comply with all health and safety standards at work. All workers will be properly instructed on the procedures,\u201d he guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Planned production volume is expected to be satisfactory, taking into account the complexity of the work, being projected at approximately 300 kilograms per year, fluctuating depending on technical and natural conditions.<\/p>\n

MMC Resources, in operation since 2018, has in the last two years produced around 270 kilograms of gold extracted from two underground galleries with depths of 120 to 160 metres.<\/p>\n

The company employs 250 people, of whom around 80% are local youngsters.<\/p>\n

Nacciro Ngiay\u00e9, a partner at MMC Resources, told \u2018Not\u00edcias\u2019 that the mine would soon benefit from connection to the national electricity grid. \u201cOur operations use around 100,000 litres of diesel per week. We have already signed a partnership with Electricidade de Mo\u00e7ambique (EDM) to supply energy to our camp, as well as to the production area and neighbouring communities,\u201d Nyiay\u00e9 said.<\/p>\n

The mining company also intends to build a new road from connecting their operations to Nsembedzi.<\/p>\n
