AfricaPress-mozambique:<\/strong> Parliamentary speaker Esperan\u00e7a Bias says that terrorism is a global threat with disastrous consequences for peace and security, whose combat requires coordinated action by the international community.<\/p>\n

Bias was speaking on Monday at the opening session of the virtual inter-parliamentary conference on \u201cThe Role of Parliaments in Deepening the European Union-Africa Relationship\u201d, in which she welcomed the multiform support that the European Union had provided to help Mozambique face the actions of terrorists.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy country has been the victim of violent and barbaric terrorist actions that have resulted in murder, the abduction of innocent citizens and movement of people from their areas of origin, as well as the destruction of public and private infrastructure, resulting in a serious humanitarian crisis in some regions of Cabo Delgado province,\u201d Esperan\u00e7a Bias told European parliamentarians.<\/p>\n

Terrorist attacks undermine peace and territorial integrity, as well as posing a threat to regional peace and stability, she added.<\/p>\n

In the framework of the European Union-Africa dialogue partnership, Bias encouraged governments to find synergies so that the capacity for vaccine production is shared with developing countries, it being the duty of parliamentarians to advocate for this goal.<\/p>\n

The high number of deaths victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in developing countries required greater commitment of resources and greater access to vaccines, Bias said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe congratulate those states who recently announced commitments to make around two billion vaccines available to countries with fewer resources.
