Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Dugongo Cement Factory and the State Representative Council of Nampula Province have signed a memorandum of understanding in the northern capital with a view to building a production unit in that part of the country.<\/p>\n

Around US$600 million will be invested in building the factory, which, in addition to cement, will produce glass and electricity generation systems.<\/p>\n

The cement factory, with capacity to produce more than two million tons per year using raw material extracted in the district of Mossuril, is planned for Nacala-Porto.<\/p>\n

Preliminary construction work may start as early as this half-year, Dugongo having already said that it has the budget available.<\/p>\n

After the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, the regional director for West International Holding Mozambique and general manager of Dugongo, Wang Feug, said that the process symbolised the beginning of a new phase of projects promoted jointly by the two parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a long way to go ahead, and the fight is the only way to do it. I hope that with your support and care, West International Holding\u2019s Nampula projects can be planned, built and completed quickly, in record time, and start manufacturing high quality products at low prices,\u201d Feug said.<\/p>\n

He added that progress in the seamless construction of the Nampula projects would make a positive contribution to the economic and infrastructure development of the northern region of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon completion, these projects will create diverse employment opportunities for the Mozambican people, and there will be close contact with small and medium-sized enterprises as well as tertiary industries, including transport and others,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Secretary of State for Nampula province, Mety Gondola, congratulated his counterpart on joining with the government\u2019s efforts, and said he hoped that the foundation of the factory unit would have a strong connection with the social base locally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that our young people will have the opportunity to establish themselves as resellers, or work in the transport sector, and find many opportunities to consolidate their presence in the sector,\u201d Gondola said.<\/p>\n

Gondola also appealed to the teams involved in the work to carry out their tasks with the greatest responsibility.<\/p>\n

Dugongo already has a factory in Mozambique, in Maputo province, while Nampula province has large limestone reserves in the districts of Mossuril, Ilha de Mo\u00e7ambique and Nacala-Porto. Limestone is used to make clinker, the chief raw material in the production of construction cement.<\/p>\n
