Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s President Filipe Nyusi inaugurated an electricity grid system in the administrative post of Ncumpe, in Namuno district, Cabo Delgado province, on Friday, an infrastructure budgeted at 92 million meticals (over \u20ac1.2 million).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe commitment to energy for all is an imperative of my government, in the ambition to provide the country with the necessary conditions for development,\u201d Filipe Nyusi said during the inauguration of the infrastructure in Ncumpe.<\/p>\n

The project includes a network of 60 kilometres of medium voltage and 30 kilometres of low voltage lines, as well as the installation of 12 transformation posts at the headquarters of the administrative post, located 281 kilometres from the provincial capital (Pemba).<\/p>\n

In total, around 1,500 families from the interior of Namuno district will benefit from the connection, in a project that is part of the plan for universal access by 2030 by the state-owned company, Eletricidade de Mo\u00e7ambique (EDM).<\/p>\n

For Filipe Nyusi, the new infrastructure will boost the growth of that administrative post, boosting the value chain of productive sectors and strengthening the efficiency of State services, especially health units.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis movement should culminate with the lighting of all the village headquarters of the country\u2019s 135 administrative posts and is the path to universal access to energy by 2030, during this cycle of government, including a good part of localities and villages along the districts covered,\u201d stressed the Mozambican head of state.<\/p>\n

In Cabo Delgado province, of the 56 existing administrative posts, EDM has already covered at least 30, according to figures from the electricity company.<\/p>\n

Recently, the Mozambican head of state noted that by the end of December 2021, the country had 44% of the population with access to electricity, aiming to reach 64% by 2024.<\/p>\n
