Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Islamist terrorists murdered at least two people in an attack on Tuesday against the island of Matemo, off the coast of the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, according to a report in Friday\u2019s issue of the independent newssheet \u201cCarta de Mocambique\u201d.<\/p>\n

The attackers reached the island by boat in the early evening. Throughout the night they burnt down houses, and looted the shops of local traders, as well as the Matemo health centre. They stole food and medicines, and six outboard motor boats.<\/p>\n

The terrorists abandoned the island the following morning, when helicopters of the Mozambican defence and security forces appeared above Matemo. There is no permanent position of the defence forces on Matemo. The nearest military position is in the district capital, Ibo island.<\/p>\n

The boat on which the terrorists arrived, the \u201cWasafi\u201d, did not make it back to the mainland. According to a second newssheet, \u201cMediafax\u201d, the government forces seized it, with the stolen goods on board, and took it to the provincial capital, Pemba.<\/p>\n

Then terrorists left messages behind, scribbled on the walls. One, written in Swahili, said \u201cDon\u2019t ask who they are. I am a soldier of God\u201d.<\/p>\n

Another said \u201cDon\u2019t think that these pigs who are protecting you will help you. Not even those from SADC and Rwanda\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in Nangade district four male bodies have been found, all in an advanced state of decomposition. One of the bodies is that of a boy, who was perhaps ten years old when he was killed.<\/p>\n

Two of the bodies were found in Ngalonga village, and two in Unidade village. Local sources believe the four were victims of last week\u2019s terrorist attacks. It is feared that other bodies are still to be discovered, since dozens of people fled during the attacks, and not all have yet been accounted for.<\/p>\n

ISCAP claimed credit for the attack at Matemo Island, claiming 60 houses were destroyed by arson \u2013 same old reference: houses owned by \u201cinfidel Christians\u201d.<\/p>\n
