Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique intends to strengthen economic and trade relations with Middle Eastern countries.<\/p>\n

According to the director-general of Mozambique\u2019s Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Exports (APIEX), Gil Bires, this action is part of the economic diplomacy that the country is implementing to mobilise investments in a qualitative way and to diversify its exports.<\/p>\n

Gil Bires said that it is also in this context that the Mozambique-UAE Business Forum is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates \u2013 an event which includes presentations on topics regarding the country\u2019s economic potential.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also intend to present investment and business opportunities in various sectors of economic activity, in addition to holding interactions between Mozambican and UAE entrepreneurs in the B2B format,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Gil Bires said that the event, chaired by Mozambique\u2019s prime minister, Carlos Agostinho do Ros\u00e1rio, is an opportunity to demonstrate Mozambique\u2019s economic potential, in addition to showcasing investment and trade opportunities for the UAE\u2019s business community and investors.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the Forum, trade and investment partnerships for companies and investors from both countries will be promoted and facilitated, as well as interactions between representatives of both governments and key stakeholders to make trade effective and to promote investments between the two countries,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

The APIEX director-general added that, to facilitate trade, there is also a need to create and establish a platform for trade exchange between the UAE and Mozambique.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to sign strategic agreements for economic and trade cooperation with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, among other aspects,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Bires explained that Mozambique intends to develop a diversified economy by promoting more industrial sectors with high potential for sustainable development, and moving away from dependence on extractive industries.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor that, we have to focus on attracting investment and acquiring knowledge and technology to expand industry, agriculture and fishing, as well as on the development of the service sector, including tourism,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
