Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>One hundred and sixty \u2018Habita Mo\u00e7ambique\u2019 apartments for middle-income citizens will be built later this year in Marracuene district, Maputo province, and in Chimoio, in Manica.<\/p>\n

Armindo Munguambe, chairman of the Housing Development Fund [Fundo de Fomento \u00e0 Habita\u00e7\u00e3o\/FFH], said that the construction of the apartments demonstrated the government\u2019s commitment to providing housing adapted to the needs of various social groups by expanding existing projects and identifying new areas of investment.<\/p>\n

The process of determining the contractor is currently underway, and work is expected to start in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Zintava<\/b><\/p>\n

The apartments in Marracuene are part of the Condom\u00ednio Zintava, where 160 housing units have already been built. The planned investment is estimated at 600 million meticais, financed by the state budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn relation to Zintava, the launch of the third phase is already in view. Financial availability does not allow us to build the number of units originally foreseen, and at this stage we are moving forward with just 128 apartments,\u201d Munguambe explained.<\/p>\n

The Zintava project comprises four-storey buildings, and is being developed in phases, with the third batch of apartments likely to be available to potential buyers next year.<\/p>\n

The Zintava project intends building 1,840 apartments \u2013 \u2018Tipo 2\u2019 and \u2018Tipo 3\u2019 \u2013 over the next few years, , at a cost of US$90 million (5.7 billion meticais).<\/p>\n

Chimoio<\/b><\/p>\n

Regarding the 32 apartments due to be built in Chimoio\u2019s Her\u00f3is Mo\u00e7ambicanos neighbourhood, administrative procedures are also nearing completion, and work should start soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe works on the 32 apartments in Chimoio are at an advanced stage. We anticipate construction work will start in the next few days,\u201d Munguambe said<\/p>\n

Chongoene<\/b><\/p>\n

Also within the scope of the Habita Mo\u00e7ambique housing project component, the government is to deliver 38 residences, part of a parcel of 100 houses built in the district of Chongoene, Gaza province.<\/p>\n

Munguambe promised that the Housing Development Fund would continue to pay attention to other ongoing projects aimed at low-income earners and the provision of infrastructured land, with emphasis on the \u2018Renascer\u2019 scheme.<\/p>\n
