Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Generation Galp, Galp\u2019s youth recruitment and training programme, received a total of 1,012 applications from young Mozambicans interested in developing their careers in one of the sectors most crucial for the country\u2019s future \u2013 that of energy \u2013 before the application window closed on Monday (June 21).<\/p>\n

Applications were received from all parts of the country, as well as from Mozambicans living in Portugal, France, Germany, China, Malaysia and South Africa. More than 50 candidates have average graduation marks above 16 (out of 20) , which suggests stiff competition for the six vacancies available.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnly with the best talent will we be able to build a better country, fairer and with more opportunities for everyone,\u201d says Marlena Chambule, head of Human Resources at Galp Mo\u00e7ambique. \u201cWe have always supported education in the most disadvantaged areas of the country, and we are now starting a new cycle, helping these young people to fulfil their professional dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n

The objective of Generation Galp is to attract, train and integrate young graduates or Master\u2019s Degree holders into Galp\u2019s financial, engineering, information technology, communication and marketing areas. The maximum age is 30 years.<\/p>\n

With a professional career on the horizon, whether in the company\u2019s core or support areas, Generation Galp aims to make the interns aware of the company\u2019s activity, integrate them into its culture and values, and train them in the acquisition of skills, techniques and soft-skills.<\/p>\n

Galp\u2019s is best-known in the country for its fuel and domestic gas distribution network. Less visible to the general public is the entire logistical infrastructure that supports this activity, where the company has made significant investments in recent months, namely the construction of fuel and LPG unloading and storage terminals in Matola and Beira, as well as the doubling of the operational capacity of Matola\u2019s gas cylinder filling facilities, which is still ongoing.<\/p>\n

Galp is also a partner in the development of the Area 4 natural gas project, which is expected to produce its first gas as early as next year through a floating liquefaction unit anchored in the Coral Sul field, off Cabo Delgado province.<\/p>\n

Generation Galp follows a model successfully implemented in Portugal for 23 years, and more recently in Spain. With a retention rate of around 90%, this program is responsible for hiring more than 500 current Galp employees.<\/p>\n
