Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A fire broke out in the early hours of this morning in the area of the Matola Cargo Terminal (better known as \u201dFrigo\u201d) in Matola\u2019s Trevo neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

The fire, which spread to about six warehouses owned by various companies, broke out at around 1:00 a.m..<\/p>\n

Mayor of Matola, Calisto Cossa, said it was premature to speculate on the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe firefighting teams are working. There is a lot of merchandise, and they are trying to save what is not yet already destroyed, but we regret to say that much of it was burned,\u201d the mayor said.<\/p>\n

Residents say large explosions and flames accompanied the start of the fire, which has been the focus of SENSAP activities since 2:30 a.m..<\/p>\n
