Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican government yesterday admitted there had been renewed cyber-attacks on official websites, adding that technical measures to strengthen security on the main server were being taken.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to note that the monitoring systems of the Government\u2019s Computer Incident Response Centre show that attempts at cyber-attacks have not ceased, which justifies and sustains the technical maintenance of the server, in order to guarantee data integrity and normal configuration of all the necessary measures to provide greater security,\u201d the National Institute of Electronic Government (INAGE) indicated.<\/p>\n

On Monday, hacking put several Mozambican public and government institution websites out of action, replacing them with a page announcing a cyber-attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cHacked by Yemeni \u2018hackers\u2019\u201d, the page said in English, accompanied by a photo of a man with a machine gun and a headscarf, and replicated across a gamut of portals.<\/p>\n

Among the targets were the portals of the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD), the National Road Administration, the Southern Regional Water Administration or the National Land Transport Institute (Inatter).<\/p>\n

In Tuesday\u2019s statement, INAGE assured the public that efforts were being made to strengthen security, and this was why some government portals were temporarily inoperative.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis measure stems from the need to intensify and reinforce cybersecurity mechanisms, meaning that part of the portals may be temporarily inaccessible for consultation,\u201d the note stressed.<\/p>\n
