Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Long-distance passenger trains in the southern and central areas of the country will return to service on Wednesday, March 2, public company Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Mo\u00e7ambique (CFM) announced yesterday.<\/p>\n

In the south, passenger trains connecting the city of Maputo and the administrative post of Ressano Garcia, on the Ressano Garcia line, will resume, as will those between Maputo and Ch\u00f3kw\u00e8 in Gaza province (the Limpopo line).<\/p>\n

In the centre of the country, services on the Sena line between Beira and Marromeu will re-start.<\/p>\n

This is the second phase of the resumption of passenger rail transport, after a total stoppage in March, 2020, as part of Covid-19 counter-measures.<\/p>\n

The first phase of the resumption started last November, covering the Maputo-Manhi\u00e7a service, on the Limpopo line; Maputo-Goba, on the Goba line; Maputo-Moamba, on the Ressano Garcia line; and Beira-Inhaminga, on the Sena line.<\/p>\n

CFM urges passengers to purchase tickets as far in advance as possible, in order to avoid overcrowding. \u201cPassengers who do not have a ticket should not go to the station to take the train, because they will not be allowed to board,\u201d the company warns.<\/p>\n

The wearing of face masks on trains remains mandatory.<\/p>\n
