Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Towar Al Kuwari yesterday met with the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Mozambique H E Carlos Mesquita at the Chamber\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries and investment opportunities available in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the Mozambican Minister presented the investment climate in his country and opportunities available in many areas such as services, tourism, energy, transportation, industry, infrastructure food processing and agriculture.<\/p>\n

Mesquita also touched on the legislative framework for investment and business opportunities in Mozambique including taxation system, incentives, and exemption. He said that Mozambique is safe and secure for investment and offers a lot of incentives that attract foreign investments, noting that there is a slew of laws that are related to investment and are being revised to further improve the country\u2019s investment climate.<\/p>\n

The Minister called on Qatari investors and businessmen to visit his country to get acquainted with the opportunities available there, pointing out that Mozambique enjoys a distinguished position and offers an access to many preferential markets.<\/p>\n

Al Kuwari went on to reiterate that the Qatari private sector is keen to learn more about the investment opportunities available in Mozambique, stressing that the Chamber would promote these opportunities before Qatari businessmen.<\/p>\n

He also noted that Qatar and Mozambique enjoy strong and close relations, highlighting the mutual visits between senior officials of both countries. Despite these distinct relations, the two countries\u2019 trade volume reached QR71m last year, which is below aspirations of the two friendly nations, he added.<\/p>\n

He also expressed hope that enhancing cooperation between Qatari and Mozambican businessmen and forging mutual investments would help increase the trade exchange between both countries.<\/p>\n

Al Kuwari assured the Qatar Chamber\u2019s interest in promoting cooperation between the Qatari private sector and its Mozambican counterpart, stressing that the Chamber encourages Qatari businessmen and investors to explore opportunities available for investment in Mozambique, which is rife with plenty of opportunities in many sectors such as mining, infrastructure, industry, and others. These sectors are very attractive for Qatari investors who are eager to invest in Africa in general in line with the economic diversification strategy adopted by Qatar National Vision 2030, he added.<\/p>\n
