Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambican state company CMG and South African state company iGas are preparing to buy 30% of the gas pipeline transporting gas from Mozambique to South Africa, a statement said on Monday.<\/p>\n

The statement, issued by Mozambican state oil company Empresa Mo\u00e7ambicana de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), which owns CMG (Companhia Mo\u00e7ambicana de G\u00e1s), said that the acquisition of the share was estimated to cost just over 4 billion rand (\u20ac235 million).<\/p>\n

The deal results from the sale of that 30% stake by South African multinational Sasol, the majority shareholder in the gas pipeline and concessionaire of the Pande and Temane gas fields in Inhambane province in southern Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The offer made CMG and iGas exercise their right of preference as they are already shareholders in the venture.<\/p>\n

The gas pipeline is operated by ROMPCO, a joint venture held 50% by Sasol, 25 CMG and an equal part by iGas.<\/p>\n

The pipeline is 865 kilometres long between Mozambique and South Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe successful conclusion of the sale and purchase agreement will position iGas and CMG as majority shareholders as their shares will increase from 25% to 40% respectively, with Sasol holding 20% minority shares,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
