Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Maintenance works on the drainage system on Avenida do Trabalho in Maputo city begins on Monday, and will last four weeks, during which time the section between Rua 2023 and Rua 2019 will be closed to traffic, Maputo municipality has announced.<\/p>\n

A statement sent to \u2018O Pa\u00eds\u2019 recommends that drivers use Estrada Nacional Number 4, between the viaduct and Pra\u00e7a 16 de Junho, as an alternative route into and out of Maputo.<\/p>\n

Users who use the road praise the initiative, although they fear the accompanying congestion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is good \u2013 we really need it. I\u2019ve already damaged my car in one of the potholes. The only problem is the traffic. Early in the day, traffic it is already intense and people who use the EN4 to escape the congestion there, come here. Imagine all of us on that road!\u201d said Cl\u00e9sio Langa.<\/p>\n

Public transport drivers who use the road on a daily basis already anticipate their revenues dropping dramatically due to time wasted in traffic jams getting into and out of the city centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will hurt to start with, but we\u2019ll get used to it, and in the end we\u2019ll have a road fit for circulation,\u201d driver Ivo Carlos concluded.<\/p>\n
