Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Ntlavene electricity network in Mabalane district, Gaza province, valued at 38 million meticais [around US$595.33, at current exchange rates]. and financed by the Mozambican government, was inaugurated this Monday (March 7)<\/p>\n

According to \u2018Jornal Not\u00edcias\u2019, the network consisted of 13km of medium voltage line, five of low voltage network, three transformer stations, 100 street lights and connection of 75 of the expected 250 new consumers.<\/p>\n

For Cl\u00e1udio Dambe, project director at Electricidade de Mo\u00e7ambique (EDM), the Ntlavene electrification project \u201ctranslates the effort and implementation of the program for the Electrification of Administrative Posts by 2024, also contributing to the achievement of the goal of the universal access to electricity by 2030\u201d.<\/p>\n

President Nyusi, who was present at the ceremony, emphasised that electricity \u201ccan accelerate development, creating jobs, especially for young people\u201d, stressing that it is a collective gain, and therefore appealed to the population to denounce cases of sabotage of the new power grid.<\/p>\n

The arrival of electricity at the Ntlavene Administrative Post is equated with improving access to basic social services, especially the supply of drinking water. It is also expected to provide improvements in health care, education and the communication system.<\/p>\n

The construction of the electricity grid generated around 60 jobs, including 45 at the local level. Work began in February, 2021, and ended in December of the same year.<\/p>\n

The project also made it possible to connect the communities of Nhimbayinwe \u201cB\u201d and Chimangue.<\/p>\n
