Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The National Directorate of Water Resources Management (DNGRH) foresees an increase in the volume of runoff in the hydrographic basins of the Licungo and Zambezi rivers (sub-basin of the Chire river) and in the coastal basins of Zamb\u00e9zia, Nampula and Cabo Delgado provinces.<\/p>\n

It likewise foresees a high risk of urban flooding in Quelimane and Nacala Porto cities, and rain erosion in the villages of Guru\u00e9, Gil\u00e9 and Morrumbala and in Nacala Porto.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DNGRH appeals to the population living in low and riverside areas to remain in high and safe areas and avoid crossing rivers, due to the high volume of runoff,\u201d the DNGRH statement reads.<\/p>\n

Regarding levels in the main reservoirs, the DNGRH states that in the northern region, the Nampula, Nacala, Mugica and Chipembe reservoirs are 100.00%, 100.00%, 91.23% and 100.00% full, respectively.<\/p>\n

In the central region, the Cahora Bassa (HCB), Chicamba and Muda reservoirs are 90.86%, 66.38% and 98.73% full, and in the southern region, the Pequenos Libombos, Corumana and Massingir reservoirs are 84.38%, 58.04% and 74.45% full respectively.<\/p>\n

In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was seen. In the southern region, the Maputo river in Madubula, and the Incomati in Magude are swollen by runoff from upstream, but remain below the alert level. The remaining basins, also below the alert levels, have registered oscillations but with a tendency to decrease.<\/p>\n
