Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, will meet on Friday in Pretoria with his Mozambican counterpart, Filipe Nyusi, with regional peace and security on the agenda for the meeting, the South African Presidency announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

The 24-hour visit of the Mozambican head of state to the South African capital takes place as part of the 3rd session of the Binational Commission of Co-operation (BNC) between the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Mozambique, according to the statement from Pretoria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two Heads of State are expected to share views on regional, continental and global issues of mutual interest, particularly peace, security and economic development matters on Friday,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commission will evaluate progress on all outstanding projects and the implementation of commitments of the 2nd BNC, and will reaffirm the bilateral relations and enhance cooperation between South Africa and its eastern neighbour.,\u201d the South African presidency stressed without giving details.<\/p>\n

The bilateral commission between the two countries was established in December 2011, replacing the Bilateral Economic Forum of Heads of State (HOSEB), responsible for bilateral relations between South Africa and Mozambique since 1997.<\/p>\n

According to the South African authorities, the two countries share \u201cstrong historical ties arising from the solidarity formed during the two nations\u2019 struggles against colonialism and apartheid\u201d.<\/p>\n
