Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The number of active cases in Mozambique of the novel coronavirus that causes Covid-19 has fallen below 100, something that has not happened since November, before the fourth wave of the pandemic, according to data from the Ministry of Health consulted by Lusa.<\/p>\n

The number of active cases officially recorded in daily information bulletins this week fell from 2,123 on Monday, to 534 on Tuesday, 174 on Wednesday and 98 on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The drop follows the reduction in other epidemiological indicators since the peak of the fourth wave in Mozambique, which occurred in early January.<\/p>\n

The drop in mortality is one of the most visible signs. Since Monday, the country has recorded two deaths.<\/p>\n

According to the authorities, close to 80% of the target population has been vaccinated, contributing to the retreat of Covid-19.<\/p>\n

In cumulative terms, Mozambique has since the start of the pandemic two years ago recorded 2,198 deaths associated with Covid-19 and 225,162 cases of the coronavirus. Of these, 98% are deemed recovered, with 15 patients currently in hospital with the disease.<\/p>\n
