Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Over 230 poachers were arrested, and over 300 firearms seized, between 2016 and 2021, in the Zinave National Park in Mozambique, the manager of the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC) said on Monday.<\/p>\n

Cited by public broadcaster R\u00e1dio Mo\u00e7ambique, Celmira Silva said that four tractors and over 520 wooden logs had also been seized in the park in that period.<\/p>\n

She was speaking during a training session for forestry inspectors in Vilankulo district, Inhambane province, where the Zinave National Park is located.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese and other results achieved were made possible with the collaboration of the local police and government, community leaders and some members of the communities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The ANAC manager noted that increasing the number of park and nature reserve inspectors and their training are priorities of the Mozambican authorities aimed at stepping up the fight against poaching.<\/p>\n

The Zinave National Park is part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA), which includes the Banhine and Limpopo national parks in Gaza province and the Zinave National Park.<\/p>\n

The TFCA also includes Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe and Kruger National Park in South Africa.<\/p>\n
