Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>For many years, people have enjoyed Netflix streaming from shared passwords with friends and family.<\/p>\n

However, this era of sharing passwords could soon come to an end as the company has announced a crackdown on the widespread practice of password sharing between people who don\u2019t live in the same house hold.<\/p>\n

The users will be prompted to pay an extra free for the privilege.<\/p>\n

In a blog post published by Netflix, the company will be testing the two new features in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru.<\/p>\n

Add an Extra Member<\/b><\/p>\n

: Members on the Standard and Premium plans will be able to add sub accounts for up to two people they don\u2019t live with – each with their own profile, personalized recommendations, login and password – at a lower price: 2,380 CLP(Sh341.76) in Chile, in Costa Rica, and 7.9 PEN (Sh242.23) in Peru.<\/p>\n

Transfer Profile to a New Account<\/b><\/p>\n

: Members on the Basic, Standard, and Premium plans can enable people who share their account to transfer profile information either to a new account or an Extra Member sub account – keeping the viewing history, My List, and personalized recommendations.<\/p>\n

This move has come as Netflix has recognized that password sharing has impacted its revenues greatly.<\/p>\n

Netflix says it will wait to see how the test run goes in the three countries; whether this change would raise revenue and\/or its subscriber count, before making any changes to other markets.<\/p>\n
