Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on Thursday in Maputo reaffirmed his government\u2019 commitment to strengthen and promote human rights within communities across the country.<\/p>\n

Addressing the opening session of the one day 4th Conference on Access to Justice and Human Rights in Mozambique, organised by the Legal Aid Institute (IPAJ), Nyusi said that the forum will only be successful if the outcome makes it possible to identify suitable solutions for better access to justice and human rights.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo not turn the forum into a space for howling, but identify the problems and propose the right solutions,\u201d Nyusi stressed, adding that the conclusions of the conference will be an added value to improving the performance of the institutions tasked with ensuring access to justice.<\/p>\n

Nyusi pointed out that the justice administration system based on open and participatory governance is a fundamental tool for consolidating democracy and the rule of law, but also for ensuring the full enjoyment of constitutional freedoms.<\/p>\n

The government\u2019s interest, Nyusi said, is to ensure great engagement and synchrony among the various institutions of the administration of justice in order to protect human rights; ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens, security and public order; and establish a platform between the government, the multinational extractive companies and civil society organisations to supply guidelines for respecting human rights.<\/p>\n

Nyusi also declared that Mozambique delivered, in 2021, its report about the third cycle of the universal and periodical review to the United Nations Human Rights Council. In order to fulfill the recommendations, the country has pledged to stick to the UN guiding principles as well as to voluntary principles on dialogue and human rights, especially now that it is fighting against terrorism in Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n
