Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The National Hydrological Bulletin issued this Thursday reported rain from light to very heavy in the previous 24 hours across the national hydroclimatological observation network.<\/p>\n

In the north of the country, on March 17, the hydrographic basin of the L\u00fario River in Namapa registered an increase in the hydrometric level by 0.25 metres above the alert level for March, due to the runoff generated by rain that has been registered along the basin, without significant impacts.<\/p>\n

According to the DNGRH, the watersheds of the Monapo, Meluli, Ligonha and coastal rivers in Nampula province maintained a high volume of runoff, although the trend was towards a gradual reduction, maintaining a hydrometric level above the alert in the Meluli watershed in Nametil.<\/p>\n

In the centre of the country, the hydrographic basins of the Raraga, Licungo, Namacurra and coastal rivers of Zamb\u00e9zia province continued with high volumes of runoff with flooding prevailing in low-lying areas.<\/p>\n

The village of Maganja da Costa was isolated from the rest of Zamb\u00e9zia province.<\/p>\n

The remaining hydrographic basins registered an oscillatory hydrometric level with a tendency to decrease.<\/p>\n

Also according to the same source, the main reservoirs in the country displayed levels varying from 60 to 100%.<\/p>\n

In view of the present hydrological framework, combined with the meteorological forecasts and the prevailing hydrological situation, for the next 72 hours, a significant increase in the volume of runoff is expected in the hydrographic basins of the B\u00fazi, P\u00fango\u00e8, Baixo Zambeze rivers.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, for the same 72 hours, a gradual reduction is expected in the basins of the rivers Licungo, Raraga, Mol\u00f3cue, Ligonha, Meluli, Monapo and coastal basins of the provinces of Nampula and Zamb\u00e9zia, with the prevailing scenario of flooding in low-lying and riverside areas as well as urban floods in Beira, Dondo and Quelimane.<\/p>\n

Rain erosion is also expected for the cities of Chimoio, Dondo and Vila de Gondola.<\/p>\n
