Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Several houses and roads in the city of Beira, Sofala province, have flooded, following the rain that has been falling since Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Some residents forced to leave their homes report difficult times.<\/p>\n

The impact is greatest in the Manga, Munhava and Macurungo neighbourhoods, they being in low-lying areas, with a greater proportion of houses of disorderly construction, and lacking drainage ditches.<\/p>\n

Given the forecast of continuing rain throughout the province, it is expected that the urban flooding scenario will worsen.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, teams from the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD) were on site in residential areas of the country\u2019s second largest city, assessing the damage.<\/p>\n
