Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique Electricity (EDM) has succeeded in reconnecting the district of Ilha de Mo\u00e7ambique, in the north of the country, to the national electricity grid, from which it was cut off when Tropical Cyclone Gombe made landfall between the 12th and 13th of this month.<\/p>\n

On the date of the cyclone\u2019s arrival, an Ikweli correspondent on the Island of Mozambique estimated that it would take at least two weeks to restore power, but the efforts of EDM technicians beat this time.<\/p>\n

EDM representative in Nampula, Eduardo Pinto, jubilantly shared the information on social media, stating that \u201cwe make it known that at 19:15 we restored power to the district of Ilha de Mo\u00e7ambique. All 23 districts of Nampula province are now reconnected\u201d.<\/p>\n

That said, EDM is still, we learn, struggling to stabilise the current in Mozambique\u2019s most populous province.<\/p>\n
