Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique is currently participating in the 35th edition of Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2022, taking place up until April 4, in Faridabad, Haryana, India.<\/p>\n

The country is represented at the event by a team of ten, comprising two artisans (Eduardo Elissane and Carlitos Buana), four musicians from the Massukos band (Sim\u00e3o Fontes, Feliciano dos Santos, Merce Combe and Chaibo Gemusse), one actress (C\u00e2ndida Bila) and three dancers (Alexandra Jamisse, Lu\u00eds Sala and Jos\u00e9 Jalane).<\/p>\n

The Mozambican representation is drawn from Maputo, Sofala and Niassa provinces.<\/p>\n

In their performances, Massukos will explore acoustic sounds from their four albums.<\/p>\n

\u201cMozambique, I want you\u201d is the title of a performance by C\u00e2ndida Bila, Alexandra Jamisse, Lu\u00eds Sala and Jos\u00e9 Jalane.<\/p>\n

The artisans are hoping to tap the business potential that the space offers, since the international fair makes a perfect match between crafts and tourism.<\/p>\n

The day before leaving for India, the dancers had a hybrid meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Eldevina Materula, where the minister urged the delegation to do their best to make the Mozambican people proud.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy with this representation. Our fight is to decentralise and we are already working in that line. That\u2019s why we bring to this international fair representative artists from the north, south and centre of the country. This is our commitment. Be open minded, learn and teach. We will be attentive to your performance and we are certain that you will raise the national flag high,\u201d said Minister Materula.<\/p>\n

The artists as one assumed the responsibility of representing Mozambique with dignity.<\/p>\n

The Mozambican delegation includes three officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, advisors to the Minister of Culture and Tourism for the area of Culture, Tiago Langa, C\u00e2ndida Mata and Ernesto Xerinda.<\/p>\n

Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2022 showcases the richness and diversity of crafts and is the largest craft fair in the world. The event is organised annually by the Haryana Department of Tourism in Surajkund, India. The event welcomes artists and tourists from over 20 countries, including South Asia, Africa and Europe, who actively participate in making the fair a successful event.<\/p>\n
