Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Parked-up transport vehicles, their drivers idle with their arms crossed is the scenario this morning in the city of Maxixe, in Inhambane province. Minibus operators say that they \u201ccan\u2019t carry on any more\u201d. The increase in the price of fuel, they say, means that working will actually cost them money.<\/p>\n

Carriers operating on urban routes say that, to ensure business sustainability, they need to charge 15 meticais, against the current 10 meticais, a tariff now in force for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

The Transporters Association of Inhambane however wants to see a resumption of service, and points out that it has sent the government a proposal to increase fares. Words which, for the moment, have met with no response, leaving transport paralysed and the public unable to fulfil their agendas.<\/p>\n
