Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The first concert series of the Xiquitsi 2022 classical music season takes place today and tomorrow at Teatro Avenida, when Xiquitsi will give its audience two memorable nights and feed classical music lovers, as it always has done.<\/p>\n

For the opening of the event, two concerts are scheduled at Teatro Avenida, starting at 7:00 p.m..<\/p>\n

On the first day, the works scheduled are: Edouard Lalo: Symphony Espagnole for Violin and Piano opus 21; Antonin Dvo\u0159\u00e1k: Romance, Op.11; Henri Vieuxtemps: Souvenir d\u2019Am\u00e9rique, opus 17; Handel: Halvorsen \u2013 Passacaglia for violin and viola; Gustav Holst: St Paul\u2019s Suit.<\/p>\n

The artists are Josef Spacek, violin; Miroslav Sekera, piano; Maya Egashira, viola d\u2019arco; and the Ensemble Xiquitsi.<\/p>\n

The second concert will be led by instrumentalists Raquel Cravino, Ekaterina James, Aino\u00e3 Cruz and Mois\u00e9s Cossa \u2013 violin, Maya Egashira \u2013 viola; David Pinoit \u2013 cello; Mariechen Meyer \u2013 double bass, Paulo Pacheco \u2013 piano, with the Ensemble Xiquitsi.<\/p>\n

Selected works are: Georg Philipp Telemann: Concerto for Four Violins TWV 40:202; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento K. 138; Robert Schumann: Piano Quartet, Op.47.<\/p>\n

Since its creation, Xiquitsi has been a remarkable platform for social inclusion, learning and socialization, where children, teenagers and young people begin a journey in the world of music.<\/p>\n

This journey has been possible with the collaboration of artists from South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, China, Spain, Finland, France, England, Israel, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Uruguay and Venezuela, who have helped make the project so versatile.<\/p>\n

Several \u2018popular music\u2019 bands and artistes have worked on the Xiquitsi project: the Brothers Willy and An\u00edbal, Banda Kakana, Gabriel Chiau, Hort\u00eancio Langa, Deltino Guerreiro, Stewart Sukuma, Dilon Djindji, Xixel Langa and Lenna Bahule.<\/p>\n

In the same creative spirit, Xiquitsi has set to music pieces by great Mozambican and Portuguese-speaking writers, namely Paulina Chiziane and Mia a Couto, and used the voice of Calane da Silva to sing poetry.<\/p>\n

Xiquitsi currently has around 200 students, playing the violin, viola, cello, double bass, oboe, clarinet, percussion and singing solo and in choirs.<\/p>\n
