Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Oil majors ExxonMobil, Rosneft and TotalEnergies are among the 13 companies that submitted bids in the 6th Licensing Round for the Concession of Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production Areas in Mozambique, a source from the Mozambican government told Lusa on Friday [March 25].<\/p>\n

In addition to these three companies, Italy\u2019s ENI, Russia\u2019s Novatec, China\u2019s Sinopec, CNOOC, CNPC and PetroChina International, Qatar Petroleum, South Africa\u2019s Sasol, the Indian ONGC Videsh, Ireland\u2019s Discovery Exploration and Aiteo, from Nigeria.<\/p>\n

In addition to a bid from the parent company, TotalEnergies submitted a second bid through one of its corporate arms, TotalEnergies EP New Venture.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Petroleum Institute (INP) will proceed with the evaluation of the documents and the list of the companies will be published on March 31, 2022,\u201d the government source said.<\/p>\n

The 6th Licensing Round was launched on November 25, 2021 and ends with the announcement of the results on November 30 this year.<\/p>\n

The process covers 16 intervention areas, totalling more than 92,000 square kilometres: five in the Rovuma basin, seven in Angoche, two in the Zambezi Delta and two in the Save.<\/p>\n

One of the regions, the off-shore Rovuma basin in Cabo Delgado province, in the north of the country, already has some areas allocated.<\/p>\n

Some of the largest gas reserves in the world were discovered there, and will begin to be exploited this year.<\/p>\n

Mozambique also has areas allocated under the 5th Licensing Round where prospecting has yet to start.<\/p>\n
