Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A ceremony marking the donation by the Japanese Mitsui Group of food for displaced people from Cabo Delgado province took place last week at the premises of the National Institute for Management and Reduction of Disaster Risk (INGD) in Maputo.<\/p>\n

In all, Mistsui donated 185 tons of food, including rice, corn flour, cowpeas and cooking oil, valued at US$100,000.<\/p>\n

The food has already been delivered to the INGD warehouse in Pemba by the ETC Group Limited, an affiliate of the Mitsui Group.<\/p>\n

General Manager of Mitsui in Mozambique, Yota Orii, recalled that this was the second time this year that Mitsui had made a donation of this kind, mentioning that, last year, the donation was of rice only, while this time the company had decided to include other food products as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been focused on mitigating the suffering of the poor in Mozambique, in Cabo Delgado in particular,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Replying, INGD president Lu\u00edsa Meque thanked Mitsui, saying that the products would make a real difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have great confidence in what Mistiu has been doing in our country, not only this year but in previous years too. Mitsui has been providing this type of solidarity since 2015. This is further proof that they are always by our side,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Meque also stressed that \u201cas an institution, we follow the trail of the products donated, so that they really reach the people in need. These products are not going to be stored in a warehouse; they must actually reach people in need\u201d.<\/p>\n
