Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>In addition to the Formiga Award, given to the President of the Republic during the 17th Annual Private Sector Conference (CASP), the CTA has awarded other relevant actors for their contribution to improving the business environment and boosting economic growth in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The CTA Social Responsibility Award was awarded to MCNet for having notably supported various initiatives over the last two years, highlighting, among others, the offer of a laboratory with state-of-the-art technology for Covid-19 testing in Nampula City; the provision of a computer lab at the Eduardo Mondlane University-UEM for the development of solutions to cybersecurity problems and to promote training in this area; supplying a hospital tent and medical equipment for the Mavalane General Hospital as part of the fight against Covid-19; supporting the Diabetics Association, the Association for the Fight against Cancer, and MISAU\u2019s S\u2019Onor Hearing Testing project; supporting Master\u2019s Scholarships at UEM; supporting the Tang Soo Do Mozambican Association participation in the World Cup; and for supporting the Mozambican Chess Federation.<\/p>\n

The Resilience Prize was awarded to Gorongosa National Park, for managing to raise the country\u2019s name across borders during the Covid-19 pandemic and for keeping the park open to national and foreign visitors, for increasing the volume of business and hiring more workers; and for encouraging the local population to interact and participate both in the maintenance of fauna and in the production of the coffee that is now being exported.<\/p>\n

The Innovation Award went to Grupo Lin, a young Mozambican company that, within the cleaning sector during the pandemic found opportunities to consolidate its position in the market; was a pioneer in the disinfection process, complementing this service with the ramification of its activity with the availability of ambulances; developed a Covid-19 home testing project; and recently built and opened a state-of-the-art private clinic.<\/p>\n

The Public-Private Dialogue Facilitation Award was given to former Minister of Industry and Commerce, Carlos Fortes Mesquita, for having shown his willingness to receive and listen to the concerns of CTA members; for showing openness to meet the private sector when requested; for keeping the dates of important meetings and fulfilling their commitments; for sensitising other government institutions to the problems of the private sector; and for participating in important CTA events.<\/p>\n

The Best Association Award was given to the Beira Commercial Association (ACB) for having its noteworthy participation in the dialogue process with a view to solving the problems of its members; maintaining public positions on various topics related to the business environment in the country and its sector in particular; for actively participating in social responsibility actions related to Covid-19 and natural disasters over the last three years; for holding its General Assembly and Elections regularly; and having its fee payment at the CTA up to date.<\/p>\n

The jury, made up of M\u00e1rio Ussene, first president of CTA: Adelino Buque, Association of Economists of Mozambique (AMECOM); and Jorge Isa\u00edas Cabral Chacate, president of FEDEMOMA, did not identify winners for the Private Security and Protection Award or for the Local Content Award.<\/p>\n
