Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>An earthquake of magnitude of 4.9 on the Rischter scale shook the central province of Zamb\u00e9zia on Thursday, but no damage had been reported by yesterday afternoon, \u2018O Pa\u00eds\u2019 reports.<\/p>\n

The quake epicentre was situated between the administrative post of Chire, Morrumbala district, and Nsanje district, in the neighbouring Republic of Malawi.<\/p>\n

The earthquake, which occurred around 12:43 p.m. on Thursday, was also felt in the districts of Milange and Quelimane.<\/p>\n

In addition to the district of Morrumbala, the earthquake was also felt in the districts of Milange and Quelimane.<\/p>\n

GDACS \u2013 Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System reported yesterday that the nearest places to the earthquake\u2019s epicentre \u201care Nhamuanha, Penembe, Induna, Mepamba, T\u00f3le, Nhacal\u00e1sa, Galimote, Caver\u00e9re, Amosse, Chag\u00e1ca, and Popoto\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis earthquake is expected to have a low humanitarian impact based on the magnitude and the affected population and their vulnerability,\u201d GDACS added.<\/p>\n
