Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Contrary to what is seen in many parts of the country, residents of Quissico, in Zavala, Inhambane province, see the wearing of masks in public as obligatory, and all comply.<\/p>\n

In fact, they wear masks on the streets, in the market and in commercial establishments, and they don\u2019t need the police to tell them to.<\/p>\n

They say that they do it out of their own conscience and for the prevention of Covid-19, and that it is not only the authorities who must raise awareness.<\/p>\n

Such a one is Ana, a young woman who lives in Quissico and tells \u2018O Pa\u00eds\u2019 that, if she meets someone in the street who is not wearing a mask, she asks them to put one on.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9, another village resident, says that the wearing of masks should not depend on the presence of an authority figure, but should be accepted as a necessary Covid-19 prevention measure.<\/p>\n

At the Zandamela administrative post, one entry point into Inhambane province, Covid-19 prevention measures have been reinforced.<\/p>\n

District administrator D\u00e1rio Machava says more personnel will be allocated to screening people entering the province, with hand washing, temperature measurement and the disinfection of passenger and private vehicles.<\/p>\n

The district of Zavala has registered more than 280 Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic in Mozambique. From once having one of the highest rates of infection in the province, Zavala now has only seven active cases.<\/p>\n
