Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Maritime carriers have ceased operations in Inhambane in protest at the increase in the price of fuel, which, they say, makes transporting cargo between the cities of Inhambane and Maxixe unsustainable.<\/p>\n

The maritime operators involved in the transport of people and goods between the cities of Inhambane and Maxixe are dissatisfied and, in view of their potential losses, decided to suspend the activity.<\/p>\n

Transporters say the decision is imposed by the situation surrounding the purchase of fuel. The price has gone up, and they cannot afford to carry on because of the higher expenses, they stated.<\/p>\n

The Covid-19 pandemic, and now the increase in fuel prices, has made their activity unsustainable.<\/p>\n

For now, the sailors of these small vessels say they will only resume activities if tariffs are increased sufficiently to compensate for the rise in the price of fuel.<\/p>\n
