Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Residents of the district headquarters village of Nangade, Cabo Delgado province, on April 10 severely beat a member of the local militia \u2013 a force made up of former combatants and volunteers \u2013 for allegedly collaborating with the terrorists who recently attacked villages in that region.<\/p>\n

Local sources said that the individual in question, who is now in contact with the police authorities, is accused of passing information to the terrorists, some of whom are from villages in Nangade district.<\/p>\n

The same sources say that the individual in question was allegedly found talking on the phone to one of the terrorists who recently attacked the Defence and Security Forces position in Mandimba village, where at least three soldiers were killed, and others injured.<\/p>\n

In the days before the attack on the FDS position, colleagues from the local force saw the individual talking to some soldiers, fuelling suspicions about him.<\/p>\n

The villages of Litingina, Mandimba and the district headquarters of Nangade are among the places from which young people have been enticed to join the terrorist movement, either in the name of religion or for monetary gain.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, those displaced to the district headquarters village continue to face difficulties, especially with regard to food. They have not received food support for a long time, and the situation has worsened since some families, fearing further attacks, refused to move to reception centres in Muade, Ntamba-sede and Mualela.<\/p>\n
