Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Revenues from the public company Aeroportos de Mo\u00e7ambique dropped from 3.5 billion meticais (\u20ac51 million) in 2019 to 1.5 billion meticais (\u20ac22 million) in 2021, the company\u2019s president announced.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur company, in 2019, had revenues of around 3.5 billion meticais. These revenues, in 2020, dropped to 1.5 billion meticais and, even with the slight recovery seen in 2021, revenues [last year] remained unchanged at 1.5 billion meticais,\u201d Am\u00e9rico Muchanga explained.<\/p>\n

That official was speaking to the media moments after a meeting of the Planning and Budget Commission of the Assembly of the Republic, which yesterday carried out a working visit to the facilities of Mozambique Airports.<\/p>\n

Among the airports that brought the least revenue to the company, Muchanga highlighted Lichinga and Tete in central Mozambique, as well as Inhambane, in the south of the country.<\/p>\n

For the company president, despite the negative numbers, the end of the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the revitalisation of tourism sector could open a new chapter.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach time the country opens up to travel, tourism and business, there is always a positive message for civil aviation,\u201d Muchanga concluded.<\/p>\n
