Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The poor availability of surveillance equipment at the borders of Cabo Delgado province is impeding inspection activities at the various fixed crossing and control posts there.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Provincial Directorate for Migration in Cabo Delgado told Radio Mozambique on Saturday that the situation facilitates illegal immigration.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegarding the porosity of borders, we talk about technical difficulties. Some borders do not have buildings or the means to enable the implementation of technological material to control the migratory procedure from our central system used at headquarters and at all points where there is electricity and mobile communications. It is correct to say that there may be fragility at some points, due to these small constraints,\u201d Ivo Sampanha said.<\/p>\n

Sampanha was speaking in Pemba on Friday (29-04) during a visit by the President of the Provincial Assembly to the Provincial Directorate for Migration in Cabo Delgado<\/p>\n

During the first three months of the current year, the nine crossing points and four fixed checkpoints in Cabo Delgado notified 183 migratory offences, 15 of which were related to illegal immigration and lack of visas.<\/p>\n
