Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican health authorities reported on Tuesday no new cases of the Covid-19 respiratory disease.<\/p>\n

This was the first 24 hour period with no new cases since 28 March.<\/p>\n

According to the Tuesday press release from the Ministry of Health, since the start of the pandemic, 1,313,881 people have been tested in Mozambique for the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, 153 of them in the previous 24 hours.<\/p>\n

With no cases of the disease identified anywhere in the country, the positivity rate (the percentage of those tested found to be carrying the virus) fell from 0.33 per cent on Monday to zero on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Once again, the Ministry release reported no further deaths from Covid-19, and so the total death toll in Mozambique from the disease remains 2,201.<\/p>\n

There was just one Covid-19 patient in hospital, in Manica province. He was in intensive care, receiving supplementary oxygen. All the other Covid-19 facilities throughout the country were empty.<\/p>\n

The Ministry release reported a further five recoveries from Covid-19, all of them in Gaza province. This brought the total number of recoveries to 223,143, which is fractionally more than 99 per cent of all cases of Covid-19 ever diagnosed in Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The number of active cases of Covid-19 fell from 44 on Monday to 39 on Tuesday. The geographical distribution of the active cases was as follows: Gaza, 10; Cabo Delgado, six; Sofala, five; Maputo city, four; Inhambane, four; Tete, four; Nampula, two; Zambezia, two; Manica, one; Maputo province, one. Niassa remained the only province with no active cases.<\/p>\n

The Ministry release also reported that over the previous 24 hours, a further 738 people were vaccinated against Covid-19. The number fully vaccinated against the disease now stands at 13,900,041. This is 91.4 per cent of all citizens aged 18 and above.<\/p>\n
